Couldn't care less), getting handed rocks is a bit distracting to someone who is so incredibly practiced at carefully using branches to climb from a neighboring tree and carefully cross over into another quiet enough to be unnoticed.
Enough that by the time anyone would notice the kid (the sound that would give it away is him breaking off a branch), he's dangling upside down by the legs from a branch right above and stabbing Jack in the back of the neck -- with, of course, the branch he just broke off.
Trees are so useful. An effective stab that's then followed by him yanking it out rather harshly and then jabbing it in an eye socket. It gets left in and the unfortunate pirate is then given a shove out of the tree. Most likely landing on his front -- which is the complete opposite of a good thing when one has a thick stick lodged in their eye. ]
