CARNIVAL CORPSE

That's right everyone, it's time for the Carnival Corpse! What does that mean? Well, gather around the holographic campfire of as we tell the tales of the Carnival Corpse. The event will go as follows!

All the inmates who are not deadmen will still be able to watch everything! We used to have it totally hush hush here in the prison, but hey- where's the fun in that? We have nothing to hide at all! And what'dya know, we actually get tons of sponsors for these sorts of shows from rich old men! Ha ha oh they're quite the riot. So! That means the ones who bid against these losers will be able to watch the show as well.

As for those participating? It's simple! Just attack the other one until they're dead or just knocked out- but hey we prefer the dead route, that's way more fun don't you think?

On with the show!

Okay that had hurt more than he'd expected. One bit of preparation he'd done was remove a few of the stitches on his stump. Like hell he was going to run around the fight on a crutch. But he wasn't going to leave it behind either. But more importantly, he was dressed the detective part, including the fedora. His goal today was to keep people alive, even if it meant sending them to penalty games.

So into the ring he went, on his crutch as usual. He gave Fetch a friendly wave and a tip of his hat. "Normally it's not in my policy to fight girls, but I guess I don't have much of a choice in the matter today."

Fetch didn't make so much as a sound as she was lead into the ring. This was something too big for her to fight alone, so all she could do was keep her word and not kill anyone. When she saw Shotaro, he earned himself a lopsided smile. It seemed much more unsure than her usual grins, and she seemed relieved to see him. If she had to fight anyone, she was kind of glad it was him.

"Y'know, my policy is the same, but you're pretty tough for a little girl, right?" She'd gained enough of her spunk back to throw some taunts his way, at least.

"Hey!" he shouted indignantly back over at her. "I hope you're not squeamish," he added. He looked down at his footless leg and from the end of the stump came a red round shape, that hardened when it reached the floor. He kept the crutch in hand as he tested it a little. Balance was okay. And a couple of test steps were sore but not incredibly painful. He walked a bit like a pirate but at least he didn't need the crutch. He let it fall over onto the ground.

He looked back up toward Fetch when he was satisfied. "Ladies first!"

Shotaro's scolding made her feel a little more at home, if that was even possible considering where they were and what was about to happen. She didn't have a chance to respond before he was already doing... well, whatever the hell that was, but she hardly felt squeamish because of it.

"Damn," she grinned, even looking impressed, "that was almost kinda cool, Sherlock Holmes."

She put herself in a fighting stance, but the grin on her face didn't fade. Win or lose, at least she'd get a challenge out of this thing. She took off at a speed way above what could be normal, and took a swing in Shotaro's direction. Connecting that hit wasn't her plan -- she wanted to see just how quick his reflexes where.

Grinning right back at her comment, he was ready for her to come at him. He slid his foot back to brace himself and catch that swing. He pulled her over to one side of him and jerked his knee up into her gut.

Fetch doubled over at the impact, but she knew she couldn't afford to keep her head down. Despite the hit she let out a small laugh. She'd had a feeling he would be able to back up his talk -- at least for a while.

She wasn't one known to be the type to play fair, sadly for Shotaro, so she went in to stomp on his functioning foot.

Ryu wasn't nervous. There was no place for those kind of emotions in a life or death situation. Win or lose, live or die, the only thing he could do was the best he could manage. He wanted to expect more than that out of himself, but with so little information on his opponent it was almost like going in blind.

When he spotted the one known as Starling, it occurred to him that he had never even seen the boy before. He wasn't going to pass judgment -- looks were deceiving. As long as Philip and Shotaro advanced, it didn't entirely matter what happened to him anyway.

"Don't go easy on me, kid." He smirked, an excessive amount of confidence radiating from it despite his reservations.

So this was the big Carnival Corpse area. It wasn't too shabby, but he couldn't let his guard down. Since they were labeled "deadman" that would mean there were guys much stronger than him. This wasn't his city, there were no obvious short cuts or ruses to use to his advantage.

Joey glanced at the other trying to see if there was anything he could do at the start. Alright, stern face. Kinda reminds him of Kaiba. What a jerk.

"Go easy on ya? Nah, wouldn't dream of it." He'll grin while doing the cocky nose swipe.

So, he was confident too. At least he could fight knowing that his opponent could handle it. The real question was if he could back up that confidence.

"I'm feeling generous. First move is yours." He beckoned Joey closer with a wave of his hand. It would be interesting to see if he'd take the chance.

"You sure about that? I'd rather you take the first move, unless you truly want to be wrecked by me." The blonde grinned at his opponent, slowly taking a fighting stance with his fists balled up.

Hot off his earlier victory, Ankh did his best avoid Hina and Eiji. Eiji was harder considering they were both still in this, but his penchant for perching proved useful.

And now he was fighting that fluffy idiot from the library. This shouldn't be too hard. "Oi, don't think just because I've already gone once today that you're going to have an easier time of it!" Even before the starting cue, Ankh was already letting the flames flare around his hands and lower arms.

Ryu Terui's plan was the best option Philip could think of. He didn't want to kill anybody. He didn't want them to have to undergo punishment games either, but there was no way to avoid that. Like he'd pointed out himself, at most one person would be saved.

When he stepped into the ring, he was wearing his vest's hood up over his head, the brim coming down just over his eyes. He was glad he hadn't had a match in the first round; that, at least, was a relief.

He flinched when Ankh's Branch of Sin flared up. He could light his blood on fire? Fascinating -- but Philip had something more important to worry about. He took a deep breath and stepped backward. He had to find a way to do this without his Branch of Sin.

He smirked at the flinch. Yeah, this kid should be easy pickings. He just had to get the job done before anyone could swing in with that auction bullshit and fuck him over. He swirled his hands in front of him and sent a pair of fireballs toward Philip. Time to see what this kid was made of.

Philip's eyes widened and he just barely managed to duck to one side when Ankh launched those fireballs at him. He grabbed at the tail of his vest to put out a lick of flame that had grazed it.

It looked like Ankh was going all out. How was he going to handle this? Right now, Philip looked very much like a deer caught in headlights.

Shingo might have been a bit more merciful with such a scared kid. But he wasn't the one making the decisions right now. Ankh was not letting up. But if he was just going to run, then he was going to keep him running.

"How boring..." he commented. He sent some more fire, one at a bit of a delay from the other, to try to catch him in a pincer.

When Eiji stepped into the ring, he had a look of uncertainty about him. Fighting anyone was against what he wanted, but a young girl? He wasn't sure he could do it. At the very least he couldn't do it without trying to get out of it first.

"Um... to whoever is listening, can't I fight someone besides Yui-chan?" There was no way they'd listen to him, but...

"It's okay, I'll be fine." Even though Yui was already hot off her last battle, she wasn't just simply going to give up and throw in the towel. She had a lot running on this. Even though she honestly was frightened down to her very core, she had to keep those emotions bottled up for the time being -- she wouldn't show her problems to others who could possibly worry her.

And not in front of a crowd.

Even though she was young, she wasn't helpless. She had spent hours on end perfecting her karate, after all, but with the snakes in the last round, who knew what would happen this round? She didn't know if she was just lucky. "And don't worry, I promise I won't kill you if I win."

[personal profile] yokubo 2014-10-13 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
He bit his lip, thinking hard about what to do. They'd both be in trouble if he refused to fight her, but she was so young. Too young. His lack of action would put her in danger just like that awful mistake he had made before, but if he did act he'd still hurt her. She'd be punished for losing. He could put up an act and let her win, but then who would she face later on? Would it be crueler to let her advance? Then there was breaking his word to Ankh if he lost... if he didn't win, would that mean Ankh would go back on his promise not to kill anyone?

It was too much to think about at once. He was paralyzed.

Heaving a deep breath, she knew she would have to end this as soon as possible. Although she was slightly worn out from the last match, she knew that she had to continue. Win or lose, she had to keep going.

She couldn't simply just drop out of the fight; if she did that, her friends would be in even more danger. And she didn't want that. So she had to make the first move, regardless of whether he was still mulling things over in his head or not. But she wouldn't just do it without at least being polite--

"Eiji-kun, sorry!" And with those determined words, she rushed herself in, deciding to throw a upper sweeping kick towards the head; it would hurt, sure, but at least he'd be knocked out if she hit. Or at least, that's what she was going for.

He snapped back into the moment when she yelled her apology across the arena. His eyes widened and for a second he thought he wouldn't be able to move, but at the last second instincts took over and he ducked out of the way.

"Are you really sure you want to do this?!" He held his hands forward, as if that would somehow stop her from trying to attack again.
