CARNIVAL CORPSE
That's right everyone, it's time for the Carnival Corpse! What does that mean? Well, gather around the holographic campfire of as we tell the tales of the Carnival Corpse. The event will go as follows!
All the inmates who are not deadmen will still be able to watch everything! We used to have it totally hush hush here in the prison, but hey- where's the fun in that? We have nothing to hide at all! And what'dya know, we actually get tons of sponsors for these sorts of shows from rich old men! Ha ha oh they're quite the riot. So! That means the ones who bid against these losers will be able to watch the show as well.
As for those participating? It's simple! Just attack the other one until they're dead or just knocked out- but hey we prefer the dead route, that's way more fun don't you think?
On with the show!

G - JAY VS PHEASANT

"Um... to whoever is listening, can't I fight someone besides Yui-chan?" There was no way they'd listen to him, but...

And not in front of a crowd.
Even though she was young, she wasn't helpless. She had spent hours on end perfecting her karate, after all, but with the snakes in the last round, who knew what would happen this round? She didn't know if she was just lucky. "And don't worry, I promise I won't kill you if I win."

It was too much to think about at once. He was paralyzed.

She couldn't simply just drop out of the fight; if she did that, her friends would be in even more danger. And she didn't want that. So she had to make the first move, regardless of whether he was still mulling things over in his head or not. But she wouldn't just do it without at least being polite--
"Eiji-kun, sorry!" And with those determined words, she rushed herself in, deciding to throw a upper sweeping kick towards the head; it would hurt, sure, but at least he'd be knocked out if she hit. Or at least, that's what she was going for.

"Are you really sure you want to do this?!" He held his hands forward, as if that would somehow stop her from trying to attack again.
no subject
She wouldn't attack him immediately, instead just saying those words with clenched teeth. Yui didn't want to fight. She didn't want to hurt anybody. But to protect her friends, she would do it. For their sake. And if they were watching--
They would understand.
"That's why I have to do this, even if I lose!" And there's that determined spirit of hers, seen in her eyes as she lunges in, deciding to go for a roundhouse kick to the stomach, deciding to play it safe. There was no way she was going to use what she learned to kill someone or possibly injure them so badly that they could go into fits of delirium. Even though this meant lowering her attack power by a little bit, it also meant that nothing fatal would occur to Eiji.

He just wasn't sure how yet.
Eiji made an attempt at dodging her kick, but it was a move he hadn't quite anticipated and it hit. It hurt for sure, but the one benefit of being beaten up by Ankh all the time was that he was getting used to being hit in the gut. At the last second he took a shot at grabbing her ankle. If he could do that he might be able to get her on the ground.

She soon realized that she had made a mistake. It was a mistake that she noticed at the last second, and a mistake that she shouldn't have made as her ankle was gripped with his hands. But she wasn't going to make it easy for him. She was skilled, but she was at a disadvantage this way.
Even so, she wouldn't give up.
She wouldn't give up.
That's why--
"Haaah!" She let out a cry, even as her stronger leg was taken up in the air during that one second it was grabbed to kick with her free leg, regardless of how difficult it was. She might fail. She might not make it in time with her movements. She felt the shiver running down her spine because of fear.
She was scared.
She was really scared, so all she could do was barely retaliate, without her Branch of Sin. No matter how much she wanted to win, no matter how much she wanted to do something, if she used her Branch of Sin now, that would just simply result in a loss. If she won because of that, her pride as a martial artist would be lost.
That's why she couldn't do such a thing.
That's why she had to hold back.
This was all she could do.
