Punishment Game!

Shortly after the Warden's announcement, the guards enter G-Block to escort the Carnival Corpse losers to the punishment area. As usual they are rough and impatient, so anyone dumb enough to fight back will get a little pre-game roughing up.

When the screens around the prison come on, each Deadman is already strapped into a chair with the roulette wheel looming behind them in it's grotesque glory. It seems that the only member of staff present is the Doctor, who waves to the audience with her lips ever so slightly turned up into a ghost of a smile. She was silent as the off-screen announcer shared the details of the game, but those in the room could likely sense her anticipation.

"You all know why you're here, don't you?" The Doctor turns once the announcer is finished. "Then let's begin."

[ How about an eye? :D ]

Philip is absolutely not going to freak out like he did last time. He won't give them the satisfaction. And even more so, he won't make Shotaro worry about him -- he's sure he's watching.

He closes his eyes and grits his teeth, waiting for this to end.

He was not happy to get dragged out of bed. And not happy about where he was going. He did resist at first, but he knew it was useless. He wasn't looking forward to showing what was left of his face for all the prison to see. But it had to happen sooner or later.

Eventually he was in the chair and strapped in. He squirmed in pain against his burns. He was obviously in a lot of pain. "Fuck all of this," he grumbled. "This is bullshit!" he shouted at the announcer's voice. As if it would do any good.

He finally cracked his eyes open to see what he was in for. His skin went pale and his hand desperately clutched the arm of his chair.

He kept his mouth shut despite how much he felt like he wanted to start screaming.

[RNG says leg, so.]

The way the guards drag her to to the punishment game is eerily similar to that night, that night of the house fire. The way her father looked at her not as a daughter but a potential threat to herself. That there was only course of action--it was the first time since Aya arrived in this prison that she was showing something other a smile or a neutral expression.

Oh, she had loved her father, respected him but even when she was emulating him... She couldn't forget that fear. Yet, she didn't resist.

It's that fear mixed with respect that is overwhelming her as she is presented to the Doctor. "So this is what being on the other end of the scalpel feels like."

During any of them

Shotaro had skipped breakfast. He was too anxious to even bother. But coffee was not going to be skipped. He had hoped there would be time to have some of Terui's with him and Philip, but that didn't happen. The scared look on his partner's face when they took him away this morning still haunted him.

His partner. The kid the Boss had left him to protect. He couldn't do anything to save him from something like this. But maybe, with that anesthetic, he'd be okay.

But no, there was no anesthetic. This screaming was going to haunt his nightmares for the rest of his life. Not just Philip's, but all the other Deadmen. Even the ones he didn't know well. None of them deserved this. No matter what they did or didn't do.

He pulled his knees up against his chest. His stump and the ghost of the foot that had been there ached, both from the strain of the three days of fighting and the memory of being in that chair himself.

And he cried. At first it was fairly obvious, sniffly, blubbering, but eventually he quieted down. As Terui died, he snatched the fedora off his head and flipped it onto the table nearby. He had no business wearing it right now. This was all his fault. He should at least be up there with them. He should have taken Joey's place. He was just a kid.

If he'd known this was the cost of winning he would never have agreed to Terui's plan.

That fear she was so eager to witness became even more blatant when Philip realized that there was no anesthesia this time. "No--" He tried desperately to close his eye and to pull his arm free.

And then he screamed.

She's aware of the gaze. The ever present smile is formed again. She had little ambition...but she could definitely enjoy a good relationship with the Doctor. After all, who else could procure certain materials that might be needed in Aya's hobby?

That question would come later, of course. For now she simply nods. "Of course I do. They do say magpies like pretty things."

She notices where it lands then she gives another nod. A leg, she can handle. A hand would have been...unfortunate. The only thought that allowed her to remain calm was simple: dying here wouldn't be like her father killing her.

Probably.

He had quite the unexpected reaction to that spin. He laughed. He laughed loud and long. Loud, barking, mocking laughter. But with his face the way it was, he looked possessed. "The joke's on you, you dumb bitch! Someone else already beat you to that years ago!" Even long before he'd taken this undercover case.

He looked over at the next person in line. "Next!" He didn't seem like he was going to stop laughing anytime soon.

The screaming and struggling continues as she keeps cutting; an inhuman, animalistic sort of sound. He'd never imagined that pain like this could exist.
