Punishment Game!

Shortly after the Warden's announcement, the guards enter G-Block to escort the Carnival Corpse losers to the punishment area. As usual they are rough and impatient, so anyone dumb enough to fight back will get a little pre-game roughing up.

When the screens around the prison come on, each Deadman is already strapped into a chair with the roulette wheel looming behind them in it's grotesque glory. It seems that the only member of staff present is the Doctor, who waves to the audience with her lips ever so slightly turned up into a ghost of a smile. She was silent as the off-screen announcer shared the details of the game, but those in the room could likely sense her anticipation.

"You all know why you're here, don't you?" The Doctor turns once the announcer is finished. "Then let's begin."

[RNG says leg, so.]

The way the guards drag her to to the punishment game is eerily similar to that night, that night of the house fire. The way her father looked at her not as a daughter but a potential threat to herself. That there was only course of action--it was the first time since Aya arrived in this prison that she was showing something other a smile or a neutral expression.

Oh, she had loved her father, respected him but even when she was emulating him... She couldn't forget that fear. Yet, she didn't resist.

It's that fear mixed with respect that is overwhelming her as she is presented to the Doctor. "So this is what being on the other end of the scalpel feels like."

She's aware of the gaze. The ever present smile is formed again. She had little ambition...but she could definitely enjoy a good relationship with the Doctor. After all, who else could procure certain materials that might be needed in Aya's hobby?

That question would come later, of course. For now she simply nods. "Of course I do. They do say magpies like pretty things."

She notices where it lands then she gives another nod. A leg, she can handle. A hand would have been...unfortunate. The only thought that allowed her to remain calm was simple: dying here wouldn't be like her father killing her.

Probably.

Oh, this was going to hurt. There was a reason she made sure her patients were sleeping deeply before she even made the tiniest of incisions. Her father hadn't been so kind--she can almost remember those screams, drifting up from the basement.

She knew that smile. Her father had smiled at her like that--What do you want to wear, Aaayaaa?--then the pain. She bites down on her bottom lip. It hurt. Yet...a thought came from amid the pain. Isn't...art born from pain?

She doesn't scream at the first strike of the saw, nor at the second, but she does scream eventually. Yet--it was exciting, wasn't it?

Not a knife. Not a medical saw. No...it had been the screaming blade of a chainsaw--a blunt instrument that severed and severed and only the deftest of hands could sew up the remains. Her father's favorite tool. Hadn't that been why her mother had found a smaller chainsaw for her?

She's not paying attention to the Doctor directly. Even if she had been, that was a question she'd leave unanswered. She does scream, though.

The screams die down as the saw finally finishes cutting through bone. It turns into labored breathing. Two thoughts brings her fully to the present: one day, Aya will be the one holding a scalpel again and the Doctor had some lovely features...

She'll remember this.

She really can't focus because of the pain and the blood loss. She watches quietly until... "Have you ever used a chainsaw?"

"It's really a skill-testing tool... the hard part is keeping anything salvageable afterwards."

This wasn't going to be the last time they'll meet. Aya's sure of that. She'll let the guards take her away without further comment.
