WHEEL OF MISFORTUNE

[ After the morning announcements, something exciting happens! Yes, yes, yes-- there's flashing lights, a live studio audience..! And a rather infamous wheel that made its name into gameshow history center stage next to a large holographic board with a green backs and white blanks on the board. As the first group of inmates are escorted to their positions behind their score podiums, the crowd simultaneously chants "WHEEL... OF... MISFORTUNE!" oh-so-cheerfully!

That's when the famous Deadman Wonderland announcer speaks up... ]

Ladies, gentlemen, and all those kind enough to join us tonight: The President aaaand The Director!

[ The twins walk out onto the stage together, the Director dressed in a crisp suit and the President in a nice dress, though her hair is down as always. They literally look like they could be hosting the Wheel of Fortune TV show-- except the Director heads over to the board while the President heads near the contestants. ]

Hi everyone, I'm the President. If you're unfamiliar with the game, each pair gets to guess one letter per spin. You can only guess consonants for free, vowels cost a price. You can solve the puzzle early if you know the answer to end the game, but you will cut off chances for more CP if you do that. If the letter you guess isn't in the puzzle, the next pair gets to play. Each pair can split the CP they earn here at the end of the game.

[ She yawns for a moment, glancing over at the Director. They have some kind of weird non-verbal communication, then she turns back. ]

Let's introduce our first players...

{{ OOC: There will be individual threads for each game! Each game will have one pair threading with the President at a time. When the pair changes, the President's subject line will change with the name of the next pair up! I will also try to remind the players in each pair when it changes. There will be individual threads for each game. Do decide which pair goes first, each pair needs to reply to the President's first comment with a number 1-10. Whoever gets the number or gets closest will be the first pair to go first. One number per pair, whichever character within the pair replies first represents the pair.

Please use this if you need reference for what your character can see on the wheel as they spin it, but all spins will be RNG'd by a mod for fairness! Any special cards will be explained ICly as they appear in-game.

[ She hasn't done anything like this in so long, so it's quite the relief to have gotten it right. Only a small pleased 'hmh' reveals that though. ]

An 'e' would seem like a pretty safe bet at this point, but uncertain costs are never appealing.

[ A questioning turn of the head to Hina. ]

Yeah... [ Considering this place, after all... ]

Let's spin, then.

Oh please, you'd pay more donating to the Red Cross.

[ If they're spinning, the wheel itself will land on... A card with a question mark on it! The card is purple and is something that can be picked up off the board. ]

You got the mystery card, yay. [ That wasn't too much excitement there, Madam President.. Oh well. ] Choose a letter, then you'll have the option of either taking 1,000CP or picking up the card. There's a 50-50 chance that the card will have either 500,000CP or a Bankrupt. What letter do you want?

[ !!! Well, that's not such a bad choice. Getting a bankrupt this early on wouldn't be too devastating. ]

What letter should we pick, Megumi-chan? I'm thinking a T maybe...

T's good with me.

[ She gives that card a pleased look. This is about the luckiest timing to get it. ]

Okay then, T!

There are three T's.

[ The Director walks over and pushes a button on the three locations, changing the board to look like this:

Will you take the 1,000CP or will you risk bankruptcy for a chance at 500,000CP?

We'll risk it!

Go ahead and pick the card up off the wheel then to reveal your prize.

[ It's going to be bankrupt. Sorry, Hina and Megumi. Once they pick it up, the little sad loser noise sounds and their CP count says "Bankrupt" then 0. At which point the President does something a little differently. ]

Please choose one of you, you have 10 seconds or it'll be chosen for you.

Don't look at me.

[ Yeah, she's trying to play it cool but she's... pretty scared actually. ]

Eh? Choose?

[ Wait, did bankrupt mean more than just the money they have now? Do they lose the rest of their money too???

Well, Hina has enough candy to last a while, so... she might as well spare Megumi. ]

Um, pick me then.

[ And without another word, the President notions to a Guard, who comes up and runs a knife through three of Hina's major arteries. Enjoy bleeding out! The President watches for a brief couple of seconds, then just.. ]

Megumi, you can spin, buy a vowel, or solve.

[ Can she. Can she really. After witnessing this?

Maybe it's a good thing her eyes are pretty much covered at all times because the detail of the scene is somewhat lost on her this way. Still, she sees enough and she feels warm dripping fluid on her clothes and she wants to scream, throw up, run away..... and does none of that anyway.

Biting her lip so hard that it releases an additional drop of blood, Megumi forces herself to stay still. Don't rebel. Don't give them a reason to dislike you. Stay alive.

Even if you just let a friendly girl take death for you.

She's never felt this disgusting before. ]

Spinning, then....

[ Her voice is flat and barely audible. Stay alive, Megumi. Stay alive. ]

[ It lands on the 40,000CP spot once she spins. The President wonders if she shouldn't ask the guard to at least move the body, but she guesses they'll just clean it up after. She's not squeamish, at least. ]

Letter?

.... N.

[ Now she just stands staring at the floor, clenching her fists way too tightly. The thought of 'stay alive' is not accompanied by a second one 'Don't think about this'. ]

[ The Director goes and turns the N's on, making the board look like..

That! And the score on Megumi's podium goes up to 80,000CP. ]

Two N's, giving you 80,000CP so far. Go ahead and go again.

Still spinning then...

[ It landed on 250,000! ]

Good spin. What letter do you want?

[ She'd be happy about that if it wasn't for the corpse of her teammate ]

S.

[ Poor Megumi. President sort of looks like she's wondering if they shouldn't have someone clean up a little. The blood's kind of pooling out around the body... ]

Two S's. That's 580,000CP total so far! Your next move?

[ That's... a ton of CP. Megumi hesitates a long moment. There is blood everywhere and here she is, playing safe for herself. She desperately wants to take no risks and yet do take a risk just to make up for what happened to her partner. ]

Spin again.

[ She wanted to say 'buy a vowel' but the words just didn't come out right. ]

[ It lands on 40,000CP. ]

You're having some decent luck.. well, if you get another letter anyway.

Luck's something else.

[ THERE IS A CORPSE HERE. ]

K.

You're out of luck. About time though.

[ The buzzer goes off and it's someone else's turn now! ]

What do you two want to do?

[He had shouted and made a lot of noise when Hina was stabbed. He couldn't do a damn thing to stop it. He stared a bit between Hina, the President, and Weiss. He hadn't expected a game like this to have a result like that. He shrugged out of his vest and laid it over Hina's face while Megumi made her later guesses.] This isn't much... but it's better than nothing...

[On to the game. Even if an E might make sense, like hell he was in a hurry to find out what they cost.] S-spinning is the only good option we have.
