Welcome to the Village, everyone. I trust you all are having a fine morning!
In your pockets you’ll find a piece of paper with your role and what your win conditions are. Keep that paper to yourself. You’re free to tell people what you are, but be careful. Don’t throw the game, dohoho~

The rules are simple. You find which one of you is the mafia. But be careful, lynching incorrectly could result in problems. Listen closely to what your friends say, and watch your words carefully. You never know what can be used against you...
Failure to comply with the game may result in a much bigger loss than what your team would suffer, huhu~

H-hey, um. Has anyone played something like this before...?

Though did we have to skip breakfast?

It sort of sounds like this cell phone game that was a fad for a while...

[She shakes her head.]

They probably want to keep us off guard.

[ Terui looked over at Mitsuki, the mention of that game catching his attention. Was there a connection...? He shook his head. ]

They want to make us desperate. If we're deprived of food and water we'll become delusional. Irrational.

[ And while he wasn't desperate yet, he didn't like the odds of any of this. As much as he loathed to admit it, Hidari was probably their best bet on figuring out the culprit. ]

If we don't play the game... It sounds bad.

[She crosses her arms. She had enough of these sort of games for a lifetime.]

[Sigh.] And I'm going to hazard a guess that "lynching" isn't just a turn of phrase.

It's a "game".

[ He realized then that besides Mitsuki, he might be the only one who knew how it worked. ]

It's about deceit. Each of us have a role -- a role we can't share with the group. At least one person is the "mafia", the killer. The rest of us have to stop them by voting who seems the most likely culprit. If a majority is met and the killer is found, the game ends and we win. If we're wrong, not only do we punish an innocent, but the killer will be able to off any one of us before the next round.

Our job right now, essentially, is to decide who we think deserves to die.

Normally, in a 'game' like this finding out who the mafia is might be fun since losing would just mean you're out of the game.

I have a feeling that if we're not fast enough to make our choice, it'll be made for us.

U-- Um, hello, everybody. I was thinking that maybe we should introduce ourselves to our group for the first day, if that's okay with everyone else. My name is Hazama Rei, it's nice to meet all of you...

My name is Kureshima Mitsuzane. Or Micchy for short. [ Even if he's not thrilled that the Captain is calling him that. They aren't exactly friends. ] So we just have to figure out which people here were designated as mafia, and we win?

It... depends on which side you're on. If you're the mafia, then you're trying to kill everyone else. But if you're a villager, then yes, you're right. But since it's the first day, most people generally abstain from lynching anyone. [ Simply because there's no clues or hints anywhere and if you try to lynch someone, that's pretty much putting a sign on your forehead that you're a mafia member.

Like seriously. Wow. Why would you even. Rei's voice might sound a little shaky, but it's confident in her words. As if she's done this before. And she has. ]

Usually a normal mafia game only lasts a few hours, but if they're using the "days" as actual days in real time, it might take a while. But since we don't have too many people... I think it would be three to four days, depending on what happens.

Surely they can't expect an event to last that long... It would be quite inconvenient to them. [Aya's been watching.] I'm Aya, by the way.

I agree. I don't think... that it would be profitable for them. Or entertaining.

[HERE'S A GUIDE ON HOW TO PLAY MAFIA 101, ANKH]

Everyone's given a role in the beginning, right? Either detective, mafia, or villager. Each character has their own role. Every day, the village can lynch any person who they may think is the mafia... And the majority vote wins.

So if you abstain, nobody dies. Then, in the evenings, the mafia has a meeting and they figure out who to kill while the detective investigates. There's other roles that are more complicated, but those are the basics. I- If you want to know more, you can ask, but, um, I don't know how this mafia works specifically or if they added any more specific roles that do things... since different mafia games do that.

This one is different than the one I used to play, though.
