Well, this was going to be a hell of a day. But it was one battle at a time. And it seemed like Fetch was more or less on board with what was going to go down today. And getting what passed for a 'date' around here was kind of like icing on the cake.

So for now, it was time for a good breakfast. There were a few more people he wanted to touch base with in the meantime, so out and about was the way to do it. "Do you think they picked Macaw for you before or after they saw your hair?" he teased Philip, with a smirk on his face once they sat down with their food.

As soon as he heard the announcement, Philip froze up. He could not deal with this. He couldn't bear the idea of using his Branch of Sin again, and especially not to provide entertainment for Deadman Wonderland.

But he couldn't see any way out of this, either.

Normally, he'd have left his cell to get breakfast by seven-thirty. This morning, though, he was still in there, pacing back and forth frantically.

ARRIVAL; A BLOCK
[ Bright and early in the morning, the new inmates are brought in and one seems exceptionally quiet. There are no complaints coming from Djaq, just silent stares at the guards. As far as prisons go, this one has exceptional freedom but Djaq isn't one to attract attention. Not yet. The best strategy to break out is to follow along with the rules until they stop suspecting you. Then it's time to run.

So for now, Djaq appears to just be taking a seat on the floor of cell A-108, cross legged and waiting quietly. Past experiences in less advanced countries with much less accommodating prisons certainly breeds suspicion at the supposed freedom to roam here. ]

AFTERNOON; GIFT SHOP
[ After sufficient evidence that the whole relative freedom within these walls thing wasn't a cruel trick to give them an excuse to treat prisoners poorly, Djaq decided to explore and is apparently asking for strange items from the gift shop. There's not going to be any looking around, just going directly to whoever's at the cashier right then and asking. ]

Morning 'study group':

[Koizumi has secluded himself in a corner of the cafeteria just before 10:30. He's not even pretending that he's there to eat; all he has is his communicator, a notebook, and a pen. It's too late for breakfast but too early for lunch, so theoretically he should be able to meet Weiss without attracting too much attention. That doesn't keep him from looking around the cafeteria as he waits. He manages to look significantly less nervous than he feels, but he's dreading this a bit. It's one thing to watch all the past events on his own; watching them with someone who he barely knows, then discussing them in public, is something else entirely.]

Evening snowman victims:

[Well, isn't that festive? Someone's built a giant snowman in the courtyard! It's a little disproportionate, though. The body is huge but it looks like the head was slapped on as an afterthought. Nonetheless, it's got a friendly smile, so nothing could possibly be wrong, right? Right.

Except that Koizumi is waiting behind it, watching for unsuspecting passers-by to jump out at. He waited until dusk because of the decreased visibility, and he's in his typical white jumpsuit with a white coat and scarf to blend in as much as possible. It was strictly to get the extra CP, but if he's going to do it, why not go all out? His communicator is set up across the path, mostly buried in a smaller snowman, set to record. Time to have some fun.]

[ it's around evening when Koishi sneaks into #2020 carrying a large liter of soda and a packet of a certain candy--not the crucial kind they had to take. this one rhymed with 'bentos', more specifically.

she can be remarkably surreptitious and unnoticeable even to her sister sometimes. so, whether Satori was not in her cell or reading or taking a nap, Koishi's plan goes off without a hitch.

hope Satori enjoys the huge fountain of cola suddenly exploding in her room!! ]

Even if it was his first day of prison - the thought of that running through his head annoyed him considering the fact that he was a detective that hadn't done anything wrong - it wasn't like him to just sit around while he still had a case to solve. That was just like him. So, after his ten minutes were up on his time, he realized that he needed to step up his game and gather even more information, and possibly find a way to contact other people as well.

One thing was for certain, though; he would have to apologize to Ran about ending up in here and souring his reputation as the famous Heisei Holmes, the Detective of the West. And to his parents, too; one, his father, a mystery novelist who wrote the all too famous Night Baron series and two, his mother. Though he would only write one letter to conserve paper and CP. He knew he wasn't all that lucky -- after all, being a detective meant that he ran into dead bodies almost every single day and dealt with murder quite often.

But this was different. He had a collar around his neck that could kill him at any moment, and honestly, he felt as if that should be illegal; he wasn't on death row, after all, and he hadn't done anything that was worth being killed for, unless investigating the prison was something that was considered as a threat. If that was the case, then that means there was a huge secret that this prison was keeping, and he had to get to the bottom of it. He was a detective, after all.

And the fact that there were fellow detectives here helped, though he would definitely have to be cautious in gathering information, especially in front of the many cameras around the prison.

His battle plan for the day was to meet up with Shotaro first at their designated place of meeting, the lounge, before heading anywhere else. But he was definitely going to be headed towards the library to do some avid research afterwards.

There's only one truth, and I'm going to find it.

Levi hadn't been talking to anyone much. He had actually been writing letters back home and wasting his CP without knowing if he would actually ever get a response.

Fortunately for him, today was the day that he would get a response from the Chief of Police himself! Levi had asked for all of the information for his case and wanted an explanation as to why he had been framed for so much in the town. He had always been the good cop; the one to arrest the kids on the street, take them for a car ride in his cop car to talk to them, and then take them back home with a threat instead of taking them downtown. He had been thanked and given awards for doing so... Just what went wrong?

Once he received the letter, he went out to the courtyard to read it by himself. He sat on the last steps, looking around to make sure no one was around him. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and then opened the envelope.

...He stared for the longest time. A perplexed expression on his face as he read the letter over and over.

"You bastard..." He muttered under his breath. He punched the steps underneath him with his fist before standing up and stomping the piece of paper into the snow, "You fucking bastard!!"

Regina had given herself just a few precious minutes to get herself together and then to put on a nice outfit. Scratch had already left for her to do so and he told her that they would meet in fifteen minutes.

Unfortunately, it would probably take a little longer for Regina. Once she knew that Scratch had left her cell and she was dressed, she sat down and reached out for a little journal. She reached for the pen inside and started to write in it. It was a journal that she had kept with her to write down everything that had been happening here. If she didn't...then something could happen to her and Henry would never know what was going on. He would just think that his mother was suffering the entire time. Which was true but not entirely.

John hadn't quite figured why Shotaro wanted to meet him out in an open hallway, but he trusted him enough to not question it. He knew by now that Shotaro, while occasionally too rash, was exceptionally good at what he did, and if he had this specific place in mind there was undoubtedly a reason. John just hadn't caught on to it yet.

As for why they were to meet to begin with, he could only assume it was one of two things: A, the case regarding the anonymous poster or posters, or B, the unsettling set of files they had found when investigating the Warden's office. Either situation would include Philip's involvement, which he was infinitely glad for. Things would take a lot longer if he wasn't on their side.

With not much else to do, he pulled out his communicator and began fiddling with it. He didn't want too look too much like he had no idea why he was there.

For a newcomer, Koizumi was remarkably calm. Things could have been worse. Granted, he could still think of a thousand places he'd rather be than the G block of Deadman Wonderland-- like the SOS Brigade clubroom, or his quiet apartment, or maybe a medieval torture chamber. But he wasn't in any of those places, and no amount of worrying was going to change that. If he wanted to make it through his sentence with his life and his sanity, what he needed now was information.

In the morning he took the basic ration cubes in the cafeteria on the principle that there were more important things to spend CP on, but a couple of bites were enough to change his mind. Two cups of coffee later he could still taste cardboard with undertones of cinderblock. His next stop was the gift shop to buy a communicator.

With the necessities out of the way he spent a few hours exploring the rest of the facility, making a mental map of every area he had access to with the exception of the lounge. He watched the other prisoners as he went, trying to memorize faces and first impressions. In a situation like this, he would need to know who was useful and who was dangerous. This involved more staring than was strictly polite, though he flashed a friendly smile if he was caught.

In the evening he settled down in the library with his communicator. He'd never seen a Deadman Wonderland event before. He rarely had time for TV, and even when he did it wasn't his sort of entertainment. But now it was research. He had to watch it. Not that it made him feel any better as he took in more carnage in an hour than he'd seen in a lifetime. Even with the volume muted, the images were bad enough. He tried not to look at their faces; all he needed to know was what sort of games they played, what sort of obstacles were involved, and what strategies had worked for others in the past. Even from that emotional distance, he had to stop after an hour. His hands were shaking. It wouldn't do to let anyone see him like that on his very first day.

He retreated to the courtyard for the rest of the evening, lying in the grass and staring up at the sky. Usually stargazing was calming, but it wasn't working tonight. The sliver of sky above the courtyard just felt claustrophobic. Still, it was better than being inside, so he lingered as long as he could before lights out.

[ Hello G-block~ You'll probably hear a bunch of shouting and punches thrown about. That's just your new resident trying to make due with being trapped here. Eventually he'll be placed in the cell (after much persistence) where he'll listen to the announcements to his displeasure. Once the cells are open he'll just wander around trying to find a way out of this place.

It frustrates him that he couldn't see his friends before being admitted here. In the morning he'll be seen staring at the food in the cafeteria, thinking about what he had been told. A candy would save him, a small bitty candy would prevent him from dying. That was just hard to swallow.

To Joey's dismay he'll be attending classes in which he'll do his best to listen, but find it difficult since his friends aren't here to entertain him. Though he wouldn't ever wish his friends to be here with him. It just felt weird having classes in a prison, though it's all for the CP he reasoned to himself.

Later that afternoon you'll find him caring for animals in the pet daycare. From all the jobs, he thought that this suited him best. At least he'll get to take care of animals unlike when he lived with his father. Take his mind off being placed here. He'll smile at the customers waiting to get their animals back. ]

Not late into the morning, Hina waits by the entrance to G-Block for Eiji. She'd be going down there by herself right now if it weren't for him telling her not to.

She's also carrying a small bag of candy that she picked up from the shop.

If Shingo is really alive again, this is her chance to apologize. But more importantly, it's a chance to reconcile. They can be a family again...

When Clara heard word of the candy sale, she couldn't help but indulge herself. Money that John had given her for a manicure was saved, and she opted for this instead. She wanted to make John happy.
It had been a month's time or so since they had told each other how they felt. She wasn't even sure, she just knew every day was perfect since this moment.
And she wanted to make his day even more perfect.
So when she finished up her shopping, she made her well to his cell, and piled all the candies she had bought on his bed, hoping for him to see them when he came back from...wherever.

Come one, come all! This wonderful test of brain power and courage is about to commence! What is it exactly, you ask? Well then, don't worry your little head about that one bit! The birdie here will explain it all to you.

The rules are very simple. There is a shocker and a shockee, following so far? The inmates will both be lead into different rooms. There is a glass wall that separates them, and of course a glass wall for the audience to be able to see and watch everything! Now then, the shocker will be provided with questions thanks to a digital screen. The screen itself is integrated into the table they will be seated at, as well as a button, and questions will begin to appear once the game begins. The questions start out easy then start to get harder, and if the shocker tries to tell the shockee any answers, then they will receive the electricity instead, seeing as how they are strapped down to an electric chair as well.

Sounds pretty fun so far! Either way, each pair has four questions to get through. For each question answered correctly, they will gain CP. If the shockee is unable to answer a question, or answers wrong, then it's up to the shocker to provide the pain and then they get the CP. See it's a good game where everyone is rewarded! The shockee cannot die on the first two questions, if they are to answer it wrong (or if the shocker gets the electricity instead) but they can die on the third question, and they will die on the last question if they are shocked. Now then, off to the CP count.

First = 30,000 CP
Second = 40,000 CP
Third = 50,000 CP
Fourth = 80,000 CP

Oh, and there are no extra rewards for dying in this event. The CP gained from questions and shocking will be the only CP awarded. So, comment in the proper spot with your muses entering, and then the shockers will be getting PM's with the questions!

Let it begin!

Being dead was significantly less interesting than Philip had anticipated. After all, it wasn't much of anything. The really interesting part was coming back to life, being disoriented for a few minutes, and then realizing what had happened.

How thrilling.

After the morning announcement, he wasted no time in barging over to Shotaro's cell. "Shotaro! Guess what!"

Throughout the day of January 9:

Philip can be found in the library for the morning shift. As usual, he has his nose in a book as he checks books out and carts returns back to their shelves. And he's still in the library after his shift ends because he's found something fun to read. He... continues to be in the library for the rest of the day, falling asleep at a table and skipping his cafeteria shift that evening. If anyone cares to go check on him, he looks like hell. Sepsis is a bitch.

Hina Izumi spends a good portion of the day, when she's not working in the laundry or the lounge, exploring whatever areas of the prison she's allowed in. At one point she can be found sneaking through a doorway that leads to G-Block.

Akira Nijino is also wandering around. What better way to spend his first day in the slammer than learning where everything is? Even if he plans to be dead by the time the week is out, he may as well familiarize himself with the place in the meantime. He also takes the opportunity to lurk in random corners and play his harmonica.

Chaplin Sukegawa has her laundry and janitorial shifts, after which she heads to the lounge to take a load off. Wherever you are in the prison, though, she just might show up and invade your personal space. Especially if you look like you could use a hug.

Kousei Kougami, as usual, is manning his cake cart in the courtyard. Do you want cake? Of course you do. Cake is also available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner thanks to his working in the cafeteria.

Short of occasionally posting responses on the network and fulfilling the tasks required to be paid every day, Ryu Terui had more or less kept to himself for the better part of the last several days. The fact aside that he found most of his fellow inmates -- especially those in G-block -- to be intolerable, he had spent most of his time thinking on matters he frankly didn't feel like sharing with anyone. That morning, however, an idea had sprung to him and he decided for certain that being in prison wasn't going to stop him from finding answers to the questions that had been nagging at the back of his mind.

Even if the lack of privacy could pose problems, he first stopped off in the computer room. If you happen to pass by he won't hesitate to close whatever page he may be perusing, but if you pester him long enough you might get something akin to a conversation.

Ten minute isn't nearly long enough to search for what he's after, though, and he was quick to make an exit and head for the library. He found himself a bit reluctant to be seen there again, especially if Weiss was around, but as long as no one pushed his buttons he had zero intention of doing anything that would cause problems. Unfortunately it's much harder to hide what you've got in your hands in a public library, so he could only hope no one had reason to approach him.

After she finished her shift in the lounge Hina waited outside the laundry room for Shotaro, as promised. He was reluctant to take her down to G-Block, so she wasn't going to give him a chance to back out.

As soon as he emerged she grinned at him. "Let's go!"

Later, she's going to be at the cafeteria. There's a new face among the regulars and it looks like they might be spending too much CP on their first meal.

Finally in a remote corner of the library, she appears to be...taking a nap.]

[ Today is definitely a day for new arrivals to show up, and this one is no different. For people who are from Japan and are possibly into fashion, people might notice that this young woman is a rather famous model and fashionista who goes by the name of Junko Enoshima.

She's brought into her cell in the morning, room B-102, without a single word coming out of her mouth as she eyes her new cellmate. Junko didn't particularly like living with people, but she was a people person, so that would show absolutely no problems. At least they allowed her to keep her all too cute hairclips.

But when the clock hits seven, she's out, and she's definitely watching those three get tortured, one by one, with a huge grin on her lips, drooling with excitement. It's an excitement that seems to surpass all human standards, and she seems to be enjoying the show a little too much from the cafeteria in the morning before she pipes up in the loudest voice she can muster. ]
